Mood boosters  

Alright don't get to carried away, we don't mean going and doing a Mike Ross aka lying about being a lawyer - cause thats illegal. We just mean to try fake smiling for a little bit. Okay, so we know this sounds kinda silly but just try it? It might not be what you want to do, but it actually helps!

 

Turns out that by using the same muscles that out face uses to smile, releases the same chemicals in your body as when you are actully really happy! :) If you're not really feeling it, try to hold a pen between your teeth cause it will put your face in a smiling shape! Hold for 15 seconds

Putting your hand on your heart can help to boost our mood. Even better is getting or giving a hug. Physical touch can help us feel more connected to those around us, make us feel more secure and reduce anxiety. Of course its important to pick your time a place, don't go hugging the security man at the airport or your barrista, and thats when just holding your hand on your heart can boost your mood! 

This one may sound the most silly, but just hear us out! 

Standing in a superhero pose can actually boost our mood! It makes us feel more confident and like we are ready to take on the world, just like our other favourite superheroes. Stand in a superhero stance for 2 minutes and get the mood boost you need! Power poses can especially be great for females, check out this totally bad ass ted talk by Amy Cuddy about it. 

Some days you just feel a bit crap, and thats totally fine! You might be tired, have the sads or are just not vibeing.  

Here are some of our quick tips to try to boost your mood a bit. 

1. faking it 'til you make it.   

Get out some of that hubba bubba! Chewing gum can be a great way to reduce anxiety and boost your mood, as the repetitive motion of chewing can release tension. For some extra relaxing power try blocking out the rest of the world and focusing on the feeling in your mouth and the flavour of the gum each time you chew for 2 minutes.

There is a reason why you spent so much time playing singstar as a kid, because it was ridiculously good fun belting out "Superstar" or "What about me" while you beat your sister. But its also been proven that singing can help reduce stress and give your body some of them feel good endorphins. So choose your favourite song, pump it in your car or bedroom and belt it out! We got together a list of some of our fav Singstar songs if you need some extra inspiration.
